Jean Metzinger (1883–1956) was a French painter, writer, and art theorist who played a major role in the development of Cubism. Alongside artists such as Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, he helped shape the movement’s innovative approach to form, space, and perspective. Metzinger was also a prominent art critic and co-authored Du “Cubisme” (1912), one of the first theoretical texts on Cubism. His work combined geometric structure with vibrant color and contributed significantly to the evolution of modern art in the early 20th century.
